French-Canadian Cultural Alliance of the Great Lakes Established as Nonprofit

LOGOThe Board of Directors of the French Canadian Cultural Alliance of the Great Lakes is very pleased to announce that we have taken the next step in building our organization: we have applied for and have been granted non-profit status in the State of Michigan.

The FCCAGL grew out of the Ad Hoc Committee for a French Canadian Heritage Day. The Committee formed in May 2013 for the purpose of promoting a French Canadian Heritage Day in Michigan. The Michigan House of Representatives proclaimed this day in June 2013 and it was observed on October 4, 2013. This year our efforts again bore fruit: both the Michigan House and Senate proclaimed the week of September 29-October 5, 2014 as French Canadian Heritage Week in the Michigan.

As a new, young organization we are building what we hope will be a lasting presence in the Great Lakes. Our work is to promote our culture and heritage, and to help ensure the continuity of our community into the future. Our success will be measured by the efforts we make to both lead and collaborate on events throughout the Great Lakes region.

We value your input and support. Please consider supporting our organization through volunteering in your local community and by donating to our efforts. Our non-profit status is Michigan 502 and therefore financial contributions are not currently tax-deductible. We are however engaged in exploring the process to attain 501(c)3 tax-exempt status.

We will always seek to offer the greatest return possible on your trust and support by providing quality programming and by helping our culture flourish in the 21st century.
