Message from the Toronto Historical Society/La Société d’histoire de Toronto
This year, Ontario is commemorating the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the French in our province. The Toronto Historical Society is planning a re-enactement of a local route taken by the Voyageurs around the year 1615. The event will take place in mid-September just outside of Toronto.
We’re currently putting together a team of 12 people interested in joining us for a canoe trip and long distance walk. Overnight accommodations and reimbursement of food expenses are available. For more details people can view a presentation on our website: http://www.sht.ca/english.html .
The expedition will take place between Orillia and Toronto with rest stops along the way. There will be a ceremony involving the New Credit First Nation, a plaque unveiling as well as the official opening of a French Language school during that weekend. If anyone is interested in participating we would love to have you join us! Please contact our President, Christian Bode at firstname.lastname@example.org and mention the Brulé-Wendat Expedition 2015 in the subject line.
