September 27 Marquette: Songs of the Voyageurs
Thursday, September 27, 7:30 p.m. Songs of the Voyageurs Featuring Dave Bezotte and Dan Truckey at the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center, Northern Michigan University. Free to the public. In celebration of the State of Michigan’s French-Canadian Heritage Week, the Beaumier Center’s director, Daniel Truckey, and Upper Peninsula Folklife Award recipient, Dave Bezotte, will perform an evening of French songs from the voyageur period.

Thursday September 27, 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. CONTRA DANCE AT THE FINNISH AMERICAN HERITAGE CENTER, 435 Quincy, Hancock. Gathering begins at 6:00 with some snacks available for folks coming straight from work. At 6:30, extra teaching for new dancers. From 7:00 to 10:00, lively music of the Finlandia Busking Society for the CONTRA DANCE! Ginger Alberti teaches and reviews the patterns of the dances for each dance. Pot-luck snacks at the break… so if you have time, bring something to share. Everyone welcome! $5 admission.
